A true master of elegant rhythm, Californian drummer Willie Jones III follows in the footsteps of Art Blakey and Philly Joe Jones. Having shared stages with legends like Horace Silver and Arturo Sandoval, Jones brings deep soulful roots to every groove, a gift nurtured alongside his pianist father. Recorded live at the Maison de la Culture in Clermont-Ferrand, France, this set pays moving tribute to the late trumpet icon Roy Hargrove. Joined by saxophonist Justin Robinson, trumpeter Giveton Gelin, pianist Shedrick Mitchell, and bassist Barry Hall, the quintet kicks off with Hargrove’s 1991 track "Public Eye". From the lush saxophone lines of "Style" to the infectious, urban groove of "Strasbourg/St. Denis," the band celebrates Hargrove's enduring love affair with the City of Light.
