Legendary pianist Chucho Valdés brings his electrifying Latin Jazz side to the stage with the Royal Quartet. While famous for founding the salsa ensemble Irakere in 1973, Valdés continues to tour globally and celebrate his rich musical legacy. Joined by bassist José Armando Gola, percussionist Roberto Jr. Vizcaino, and drummer Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernández, Valdés leads a high-energy performance. Dynamic beat-breakdowns and Cuban percussion solos take center stage alongside fiery jazz improvisations. Vizcaino moves seamlessly across five congas, playing with mallets, sticks, and bare hands. At the Steinway piano, Valdés balances original compositions like “Congadanza” with fresh takes on classics by Chick Corea and George Gershwin. The band delivers a captivating set, closing with the striking rhythms of “Anabis” and an explosive percussion encore in “Tatomania.” Vibrant blood reds and cobalt blues light up the stage for an unforgettable performance.
