It is impossible to imagine jazz without Ron Carter. The legendary bassist began his journey on the cello. After facing systemic barriers in classical music, he turned to the double bass and altered the course of modern jazz. Over a six-decade career, Carter has become the defining voice of jazz bass. A key member of Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet, he holds the Guinness World Record as the most recorded bassist in history with over 2,200 album credits. In this March 2020 concert at Poland’s Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa Festival, Carter leads his Foursight Quartet through a dynamic set of straight-ahead jazz. Alongside pianist Rene Rosnes, saxophonist Jimmy Greene, and drummer Payton Crossley, the maestro showcases original works like "Mr. Bow-tie" alongside touching nods to Miles Davis.
